3 Healthy Chicken Recipes for National Poultry Day

March 19, 2021

On National Poultry Day, we’re going to celebrate chicken! Like other animal-based sources of protein, it’s extremely nutritious. It’s a great source of protein and amino acids that have been shown to help build stronger muscles, promote healthy bone density, stave off osteoporosis, and even helps lower the risk of heart disease. Plus, it’s rich in vitamins and minerals, including Vitamin B12, zinc, iron (which promotes the production of red blood cells), and copper.

Chicken Zucchini Burgers

Who doesn’t love a little (gluten-free) pita bread, greek yogurt, and zucchini with almond-crusted chicken? This recipe from Epicurious is delicious, delightful, and great for when you don’t feel like washing more forks and knives (we’re all about those finger foods!) Plus, it makes great use of one of our favorite ingredients: avocado oil! We recommend subbing almond flour for the bread crumbs to keep this gluten-free.

Chicken with Lemon and Spicy Spring Onions

Sometimes, it’s the simple recipes that turn ordinary ingredients into an elevated experience. This recipe from Bon Appetit is effortless, extra juicy, and fabulous. Doesn’t require a lot of work on your part, but after two hours in the oven, it’s ready for the whole family to enjoy (makes 6-8 servings).

Chicken Biryani

Yep—one of our all-time favorite dishes is a classic Chicken Biryani. It’s satisfying, packed with flavor, and when done right, has that comforting taste of home. But here’s a twist—traditional biryani is usually made with mutton instead of chicken. But for today’s purposes, we’re sharing our fav chicken version. We’re talking saffron, long-grain basmati rice, onion, Kashmiri chili powders—we could go on. This recipe comes from Indian Ambrosia. It’s so aromatic and delicious that yes, we would in fact like multiple servings, thanks.

BONUS – Cacio e Pepe with Rosemary Chicken

Surprise! You thought we were going to do an entire blog post without talking about our personal fav from our very own kitchen? It’s the cacio e pepe with rosemary chicken. Using gluten-free brown rice pasta, extra virgin olive oil, and parmesan cheese, this dish is a comforting, delicious classic.
