My City Moves

By Beth Lawrence • March 13, 2017 • Community

Last year, MyCityMoves landed on the City of Philadelphia. City Fitness, together with Palette Group, Thrive, Endeavor Athletics, and some key influencers motivated over 300 Philadelphians to complete over 6,600 hours of exercise, burning 3.25 million calories. This year, City Fitness’ marketing powerhouse, Tom Wingert, aims to get well over 1,000 Philadelphians moving, together, from March 11-31, clocking well over 20,000 hours of exercise and burning over 10 million calories – all while giving away $10,000 in cash. Safe to say, they think big.

We’ve partnered with the crew this year to bring you each influencer’s Meal Prep from Snap Kitchen. That’s right – that super motivating (and sometimes intimidating) fitness star you follow? Not only can you train with them, compete with your city AND be entered to win money, now you can fuel like them too.

Tom Wingert, the Marketing Director for City Fitness, is one of the brains behind this takeover and happens to be one of the Influencers in this year’s campaign. Not a fan of calorie counting, he chose protein-packed meals and snacks to compliment his #nodaysoff training schedule. Below is Tom’s “Day at Snap” – Gluten Free Brownie optional.

Jon Lyons
joined the City Fitness team in 2016, bringing with him an expertise in how to motivate and mobilize Philly’s diverse and vast running community. (Don’t believe me? Just ask Runner’s World!) As the founder of Run215, he’s no stranger to fitness challenges. Want to eat like Jon? His all-vegan Snap Kitchen faves are below:

Every Wednesday, come rain, shine or snow, a group of runners gather in Center City to tackle an all-levels run. Whether it’s your first 5K or a marathon you’re looking to tackle, no doubt you’ve received their ultra-motivational Monday newsletter, joined them on a run or completed a virtual training program. The fearless Philly women behind this group? Kiera Smalls and Takia McClendon. To balance their rigorous running schedule, the two Vegan ladies chose the following (nearly identical) Snap meals and snacks:

The only difference between their plans? Takia adds her all time favorite Snap meal, the Grilled Kale Hoppin’ John, to her days. It seems these City Fit Girls co-founders have more in common than just their love of running!

If you’ve trained in the City in the past couple of years, you’ve undoubtedly met (or at least heard of) Wayne and Gwinyai (Gwi) – AKA “The Lions”. I met them at our Snap Kitchen Fairmount opening last year, and was immediately drawn to their contagious enthusiasm. The duo has since taken over the Philly workout scene, teaming up with City Fit Girls, Vea Fitness, Core Water and of course, City Fitness and Snap Kitchen for bootcamps and DJ-accompanied workouts you won’t soon forget. They train together, work together and eat together, so it makes sense that they represent MyCityMoves as two of this year’s influencers.

Gwi’s Day at Snap looks like this:

When they are not training their clients, they are preparing themselves for Fitness competitions all over the country. In fact, Wayne is a 3 time NABBA National Champion, winning the Men’s Fitbody Championship and the Men’s Mr. Ironfitbody twice in a row. Below is the exact diet Wayne used to prepare for (and win) the competition in 2016 (broken down in to training and non-training days):

Now that is how you eat, train and win like a Lion. No matter your dietary lifestyle, calorie or macro goals or your favorite influencer, we’ve got you. Let’s earn those MEPS and make this city more active, healthy and happy this month.
