Melissa Urban’s Top 3 Food Freedom Tips

August 1, 2020

So you just completed your Whole30. WAY 👏🏼 TO 👏🏼 GO. But now what? We asked our friend and Whole30 Co-Founder, Melissa Urban, for her top 3 Food Freedom tips to help you rock your post-Whole30 life. Here’s the DL straight from Melissa.

A quick editor’s note before you dive in: even if you haven’t completed a Whole30, you can still implement Melissa Urban’s suggestions. No matter the eating pattern you’re trying out, these tips still apply. Any lifestyle change you undertake can benefit from her advice. Enjoy!

Stay committed to your growth mindset.

You ARE a healthy person with healthy habits, even though your Whole30 is over. Stay engaged with your reset community on social media, take on other new healthy initiatives to support your dietary habits, and surround yourself with growth mindset reminders (books, activities, meditation mantras, or fitness activities). The more reinforcement you can give to your “I am a healthy person” growth mindset, the more secure you’ll be in your food freedom.

Practice.

Food Freedom Forever outlines many tips and tricks for making “worth it” decisions in the moment, but they only work if you work them! Knowing and not doing is the same as not knowing, so deep breathe, give your treat a time out, or imagine the consequences EVERY TIME you’re feeling anxious around food. After a while, these behaviors become automatic, and you’ll find yourself making better and better choices for YOUR food freedom.

Admit your healthy habits are starting to slip sooner rather than later.

You know when you’re staring down the slippery slide to Carbapalooza, but the longer you wait to reach out for help or reset, the harder it will be to arrest your slide. Don’t be afraid to reach out to your support community! Lean on them, use their guidance to get you back on track, or just jump right into a mini-reset and get back to your food freedom fast.

Chances are, you’re probably now about to enter the reintroduction phase. We’re here to support you throughout your entire health journey, so feel free to reach out with questions & be sure to check out our reintroduction blog here. Completing the Whole30 is no easy task. So take it in, congratulate yourself, and go enjoy your post-Whole30 life! Thanks to Melissa Urban for this awesome blog post!
